Silver Coated Knitted Grafts

One of the most serious complications of abdominal aortic and peripheral vascular reconstruction is a vascular prosthesis infection that can cause adverse effects on a patient’s health and can be life-threatening. Continuously innovating in the manufacturing process, MAQUET has developed the first vascular prostheses to effectively reduce the risk of infection to a minimum, improve patient healing and postoperative course, and reduce the cost of treating such infections.
We present silver-plated vascular prostheses with antimicrobial properties. The new generation of MAQUET silver-plated, knitted or woven vascular prostheses is intended for the reconstruction of the abdominal aorta and peripheral blood vessels. These are the first vascular prostheses to combine two well-known antimicrobial drugs: silver acetate and triclosan. These prostheses can be used in the presence of an active infection as recommended in the instructions for use.
